1.       Work alone or in groups of two.  The number of available computers could determine the number of people that can work alone.  One computer per group of two people.

2.       Using the internet, discover 3 products that you enjoy using but feel could be improved upon.

3.       Upon discovering the 3 products, divide a piece of paper into two columns:  PROS / N.I. (Needs Improvement) – see table below.  Perform this action three separate times on your paper to involve each of the three products you chose.

PROS

N.I. (Needs Improvement)

4.       Find 5 PROS and 5 NI’s for each for the 3 products you chose.

5.       After finding 5 PROS and 5 NI’s for each of the 3 products you chose, extract your favorite top 3 N.I.’s from each existing product.

6.       Using the Super Product Web Designer, organize your categories and begin integrating your ideas into the Super Product.  The Web Designer is only focusing on the 3 N.I’s from each existing product.

SUPER PRODUCT WEB DESIGNER:

 Existing Product #1

3 N.I.'s

Existing Product #2

3 N.I.'s

Existing Product #3

3 N.I.'s

SUPER PRODUCT

Integrating the 3 N.I.'s from each existing product.

7.       Your Super Product should contain both PROS and NI’s from each of the 3 existing products, even though the Web Designer is just based on 3 N.I.’s from each product.  Remember you are changing the existing products to make each better, not eliminating a product from the market.

8.       Formulate a design in which you could mold all 3 existing products into 1 Super Product.

9.       The Super Product MUST contain information about the:

a.       Name of the Super Product.

b.      Relevance in society including selling features and price point.

c.       Extent to which the Super Product is superior to the 3 existing products.

d.      Evidence that the Super Product will in fact be superior (sure everyone has a different opinion of what is better or worse but remember you are the salesperson for your Super Product).

e.      Answers to questions that the public may have about your Super Product (FAQ’s Section – Frequently Asked Questions – this will be dealt with more during the presentation portion of your Super Product Assignment)

10.   Finished Super Products MUST have at minimum 1 picture attached to it.  Multiple pictures or 3D images, if necessary, are a positive addition.  Pictures can be hand drawn or computer generated using a drawing program.  Students may also choose to make a real life model of their Super Product instead of an image, if that is possible.

Product Design Presentation Elements

1.       MUST be 3 minutes in length.

2.       MUST display evidence of being rehearsed and edited.

3.       MUST introduce the 3 initial products and then discuss integration into a Super Product.

5.       CHOICE of memorized, point form, or full sentence notes for the presentation.
